In attempting to capture the near-future in Her, director Spike Jonze headed to Pudong, a Shanghai district, to mask as the new Los Angeles, where we find Joaquin Phoenix‘s character Theodore Twombly. Tracking his relationship with an operating system, in our full review we said the project was “among the more pleasurable, immediately satisfying, and appreciably ambivalent of techno-love tales.”
We now have a batch of behind-the-scenes stills, which show off the aforementioned location, as well as some interiors. Coming from WB this December, check out the photos above and below for the film also starring Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson, Rooney Mara, Chris Pratt and Olivia Wilde. We’ve also included the 30-minute New York Film Festival press conference if you missed it, which features Jonze and much of our cast.
We also have the first batch of official photos from the set of Angelina Jolie’s sophomore directorial effort Unbroken, which notably has cinematographer Roger Deakins on board, working from a script that Joel and Ethan Coen had a hand in. Starring Jack O’Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Garrett Hedlund, Finn Wittrock, John Magaro, Alex Russell, Miyavi and more, it follows Olympian and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini (O’Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII—only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. Check them out above and below.
Her opens on December 18th and expands in January, while Unbroken doesn’t arrive until December 25th, 2014. [Emileeid/HeyUGuys]
