Yahoo has debuted the theatrical trailer for Bright Star in anticipation of its release this September. Jane Campion’s film focuses on poet John Keats’ three-year relationship with Fanny Brawne, cut short by his early death. The film stars up-and-comers Ben Whishaw as Keats and Abbie Cornish as Brawne.
Although the trailer cannot prove whether the acting is as good as its audience in Cannes claimed, Campion seems to have succeeded in producing an appropriate melancholic mood through the visuals.
Editor’s Note: I, Dan Mecca, did in fact see this film in Cannes and can say that, above all else, the acting in this film is splendid and deserves to be admired.
