Some release date news to catch up on here. The Weinstein Company has decided to move ahead their controversial (now) R-rated flick Blue Valentine two days to Wednesday December 29th. Originally it was slated for New Year’s Eve, but Harvey appears to want to get a head start on the New Year’s weekend. The release will be slow however, opening in LA and NYC, and adding ten markets in January.
Elsewhere, highly regarded Biutiful will now be released in January. Originally slated December 29th, it will now hit theaters January 28th, 2011. No worries about it’s Oscar contention, as it is still on the ballot. It’s unclear whether it is the full release pushed back or if there will be a qualifying release in limited markets before the year’s end. We will update when we hear.
Thai flick and Cannes favorite Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, which has sought moderate critical success oversees will see U.S. theaters in March. That film can be seen on March 2nd, 2011.
Will you be able to catch Blue Valentine? How do you feel about Biutiful?
