One of our favorite scores from 2015 was Ennio Morricone‘s work on The Hateful Eight, a rich concoction that, as I said in my review, complements Quentin Tarantino‘s film by playing “closer to giallo than Leone.” (One can listen to the full assembly here.) If you, too, were a fan, we have some very good news: as part of the Weinstein Company’s awards push, a video of Morricone composing the film’s opening-credits theme, “L’Ultima Diligenza per Red Rock (versione integrale),” at Abbey Road has been made available.
But that’s not all! When speaking to Deadline, the legend, who will soon be given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, announced that he and Tarantino are set for another collaboration — about which we currently know nothing, mind. As the quote goes:
“Tarantino has already told me that there will be a next movie that we are going to make together. I told him that in the future I would like to have much more time. I would like to start working with him even long before in order to have the time to work, to think about the music, and also to exchange more ideas with him about what I am going to score for him. I never ask any director to work with me, but it was Tarantino who told me, ‘OK, there will be a next time.'”

Update: See another below, featuring Morricone composing “Neve.”
