We’ll have to wait a little longer to sing along, as Universal Pictures have just announced a slight delay for their adaptation of Les Miserables. Instead of opening right next to the likely box office juggernaut The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14th, Tom Hooper‘s The King’s Speech follow-up will now bow on Christmas Day, next to Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained and the comedies Parental Guidance and The Guilt Trip. Starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and more, the film will also see a release a few days after Universal’s own This Is 40 and Paramount’s Jack Reacher.
In other release date news, Screen Gems have made a huge release date switch, moving their 3D dance film Battle of the Year from this January all the way to September 13th, 2013. We posted a trailer for the Josh Holloway, Josh Peck and Chris Brown-led film awhile back, but no telling if its getting reworked due to this length delay. The studio have also set a October 18th, 2013 release date for Sam Miller‘s Idris Elba-led thriller No Good Deed. The duo worked together on Luther and now this film, also starring Taraji P. Henson, follows “a former D.A turned stay-at-home mom and her two small children who are terrorized and kidnapped from their home when she invites a good looking mysterious stranger in to wait for help after his car ran off the road.”
What do you think of the release date changes?
