While Cronenberg, Dardennes, Assayas, Loach, Leigh, and more regulars will be returning to Cannes Film Festival, there were a few relative unknowns in the line-up. One such example is Damián Szifrón, who is mostly known for his television work in Argentina, but will be bringing his latest drama Relatos salvajes (aka Wild Stories) to the Croisette.
The first two trailers have now landed for the film which tells six separate stories that combine “suspense, humor and violence in a true visual spectacle and narrative.” One might recognize Ricardo Darín (star of the fantastic The Secret in Their Eyes) and while both trailers are subtitle-free, the first is simply a teaser showing off the visuals, so definitely check it out. Also starring Oscar Martínez, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Érica Rivas, Rita Cortese, Julieta Zylberberg, and Darío Grandinetti, the film will be released in August in its native country, but doesn’t have U.S. distribution yet.
Cannes Film Festival runs from May 14th to the 25th.
What do you think of the trailers? Was the film on your radar?
