It was reported a few days ago that production on Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man 4 has been put on hold due to some major script discrepancies. MTV Movies Blog recently sat down with Willem Dafoe about his new film Daybreakers and one of the topics of discussion was the next Spider-Man. Check out what Dafoe had to say below.
It is clear Dafoe is interested in returning to the franchise which should make a lot of people happy.
Also, over at HitFlix, Spidey frontman Tobey Maguire stated:
Like anything, it’s a process. We’re just in the midst of the process. We have a lot of great stuff in terms of story and script. We’re just trying to dial it in and get it ready as quickly as possible. Of course, these movies are a very big undertaking and take a lot more time than a drama or something more straightforward. Not only do I have specific ideas, but the ideas are evolving on the page,” he said. “It’s all happening right now. It’s all sort of coming together. It’s very exciting to me. I think the evolution of the character is really exciting, to be rooted in the history of what we’ve done already and to have a continuity, yet have a progression or evolution.
Like Dafoe, Maguire is all pumped for the next installment in the franchise. I am sure everyone’s creative caps are on right now and cranked to 11 for the next film.
Spider-Man 4‘s May 2011 release date was just taken over by Thor. No word yet on when it will be released. Stay tuned to The Film Stage for updates as they arrive.
