If last week gave us Tolkien, this week is certainly dedicated to James Bond. With his epic Blu-ray box set being released, we’ve now got a grab bag full of new content and details on his latest film, Skyfall. First up, and most importantly, Sony Pictures have revealed that Sam Mendes‘ Daniel Craig-led film will be hitting IMAX theaters a day earlier than expected in the US, on November 8th and we can expect tickets to go on sale next month.
Then earlier this month we brought the news that pop icon Adele would be belting out the theme song for the film and now a few more details have arrived. Yet again Showbiz411 has the scoop that the song, written with Paul Epworth (who also delivered her hits Rolling in the Deep and the majority of her album 21), is aiming for a debut the first week of October, on the 4th or the 5th. For now, one can see some lyrics below, followed by two new international TV spots and a batch of stills.
“Let the sky fall/Let it crumble/We will stand tall/And face it all/together. This is the end/Hold your breath and count to ten/Feel the Earth move and then/Hear my heart burst again. Skyfall/Is where we start/A thousand miles and poles apart/Where worlds collide/and days are denied/You can take my name/But you’ll never take my heart.”
In SKYFALL, Bond’s loyalty to M (JUDI DENCH) is tested as her past returns to haunt her. 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.
When Bond’s latest assignment goes gravely wrong and agents around the world are exposed, MI6 is attacked forcing M to relocate the agency. These events cause her authority and position to be challenged by Gareth Mallory (RALPH FIENNES), the new Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee. With MI6 now compromised from both inside and out, M is left with one ally she can trust: Bond. 007 takes to the shadows – aided only by field agent, Eve (NAOMIE HARRIS) – following a trail to the mysterious Silva (JAVIER BARDEM), whose lethal and hidden motives have yet to reveal themselves.
Javier Bardem, Bérénice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Judie Dench, Ben Whishaw, Ola Rapace, Helen McCrory, Tonia Sotiropoulou, and Albert Finney also star in the film, which is set for a stateside release on November 9th, IMAX bow a day before, and UK release a bit earlier on October 26th.
