Since we’re getting a break from Nick Fury, as he won’t appear in Iron Man 3 or Thor 2 next year, actor Samuel L. Jackson has been lining up additional roles. He’ll be seen next week in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained and has supporting roles in two major remakes next year, RoboCop and Oldboy, and now he’s revealed that he’ll take part in yet another remake.
Speaking with Movies.com, the actor let loose that he’ll be reteaming with his Snakes on a Plane director David R. Ellis for a live-action version of Yasuomi Umetsu‘s Japanese anime Kite. Ellis boarded the character-driven actioner well over a year ago, but it looks like things are set to move forward as a Johannesburg production is in the works for next year.
No details on Jackson’s role yet but the original followed a young woman living in a failed state, post-financial collapse, where the corrupt security force profits on the trafficking of young women. Her father, a police officer, is killed, and she decides to find his murderer with his ex-partner, who is actually the killer. Our best guess would have Jackson playing the ex-partner/killer, which seems like something he could eat up and the project on the whole seems like a different direction for the director.
