John Carter Of Mars, the story of a Civil War soldier transplanted and imprisoned by Martians, has a new composer – Oscar Winner Michael Giacchino.
The film is Finding Nemo/Wall-E director Andrew Stanton’s first live action film, starring Taylor Kitsch as John Carter, along with Lynn Collins, Mark Strong, Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton, and Thomas Haden Church.
Giacchino has done well scoring action in the past – he’s responsible for Alias, Lost, Mission Impossible III, Star Trek, etc. The man mixes romance and excitement flawlessly, much like his mentor John Williams.
Add to that the fact that he just won an Oscar for a Pixar film and the director for this thing is Pixar’s master filmmaker, and it all makes perfect sense.
Shooting for the film began in January.
