The third trailer from Dreamworks upcoming superhero/supervillain comedy Megamind surfaced on iTunes Movie Trailers today, revealing new plot points.

Megamind is a blue alien with an oversized cranium, voiced by Will Ferrell, who is in a life-long battle against his nemesis, the heroic Metro Man, voiced by Brad Pitt. Both journeyed from planets far away, long ago and now use the earth as their stomping ground/battlefield as they fight each other and all that good versus evil hullabaloo.

The twist here is that Megamind manages to defeat the city’s hero, crushing Metro Man’s self-esteem. So, Megamind tries to create a new nemesis – voiced by Jonah Hill – who abruptly chooses to destroy the city with his new-found powers, leaving Megamind to switch sides and attempt to save the day.

It’s an interesting premise, though at this stage it doesn’t seem to make much sense. Regardless, the celebrity cast (Tina Fey and David Cross also lend their voices) is likely to draw in grownups, while the goofy cartoonish slapstick will likely attract the ankle biter demographic.

The real question is will it lure you in?

Megamind opens in the U.S. on November 5th 2010, in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.
