After this years controversial Antichrist, Lars Von Trier will head into different territory with his next project, Planet Melancholia. The Hollywood Reporter announces the $7.4 million psychological disaster film will shoot and do post-production in Germany and Sweden. “No more happy endings!” was all Von Trier had to say about the film. His business partner Peter Aalbaek Jensen has “promised a mix of spectacular, cinematic imagery with Dogme-style handheld camerawork — a combination seen in Antichrist.” Jensen says the film will be “romantic, in a Lord Byron sort of way.”
I thought Antichrist definitely had it’s merits. Check out my Toronto International Film Festival review here. I’m looking forward to this one and wonder how much “sci-fi” Von Trier can do with $7.4 million.
Planet Melancholia is looking for a premiere in Cannes 2011.
Are you looking forward to Antichrist? What about this project?
