Taking a note from Peter Jackson‘s productions videos for The Hobbit, it looks like co-producer Michael G. Wilson and his team will be providing similar updates from the set of the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall. As a quick treat, he has posted an intro to these unveilings, complete with our first official glimpse at footage from the set. We only see a blue-light room and a character picking up a gun, but it is a slick tease to intrigue us for the next one. [007]
We also have another quick update on Sam Mendes‘ film with a detail on Ralph Fiennes’ mysterious character. The actor (turned recent director for Coriolanus), sat down with the Daily Record to talk his Shakespearean adaptation and let a few things slip regarding his Bond involvement.
He first stated that he “used to be a complete nerd about the books and the detail in them” and then said that “he is allowed to say” that he will be playing “a government agent.” Will he be another 00 agent? Team-up with Bond? Fall to the dark side with the villain Javier Bardem? We don’t know, but the possibilities in this great ensemble are exciting. For now, check out the intro video below.
Update: A new report from MovieWeb now gives us more details on Fiennes’ character. One of their sources inside EON Productions says that Fiennes is actually going to be replacing Judi Dench‘s character as a new M, the figure that runs MI6 and Bond’s go-to guide for info. Skyfall is said to be Dench’s last Bond appearance. The exact quote is below.
“Ralph Fiennes play’s a government agent, which we never get a name on, because he is set to play the new M.
Synopsis:
In SKYFALL, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.
The film, which has a “magical Goldfinger feel” also stars Daniel Craig, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Ola Rapace, Helen McCrory and Albert Finney, is set for stateside on November 9, 2012 after bowing in the UK on October 26.
