As director Kevin Smith is trying to re-coup from the disaster that was Cop Out and the Cop Out aftermath, he is currently shooting his new film, Red State. He tweeted today that is is hoping to be ready “and get into” Sundance or Cannes next year.
Soon after, he also posted the very first look at the film (via Very Aware). It is not much, mostly the back of the preacher Abin Cooper’s (Michael Parks) head. The film also stars John Goodman, Kevin Pollak, Melissa Leo, Stephen Root, Kyle Gallner, and Michael Angarano. Check out the photo below.
Synopsis: A group of kids encounters a crazed preacher (based on Fred Phelps, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church) who gives a whole new meaning to the term “extreme fundamentalism.”
Are you looking forward to Red State or did Cop Out leave too much of a bad taste in your mouth?
