Ellie Kemper has been tearing it up at the cutest woman on The Office, and even in small supporting roles with Mystery Team, Get Him to the Greek, and Somewhere. She has most recently been seen in this summer’s break-out hit Bridesmaids, which has the strongest legs of any wide release film, seeing only minuscule drops each week. Variety reports another film to add to her resume.
Although it is currently shooting, Kemper has joined the cast of 21 Jump Street, an update to the classic ’80s TV show. She joins Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum and will be playing the latter’s love interest, Ms. Griggs, “an annoyingly sincere chemistry teacher who’s attracted to Tatum’s character and surprised when she discovers he’s not a real student.”
Hill previously described the feature described as “a John Hughes movie with Bad Boys style action,” Hill went on to say “It’s essentially a story about guys who didn’t get it right the first time going back to school. It’s almost like a time-travel movie where they have the answers that they didn’t know then. Like Back to the Future Part II: They go back, but now they have the almanac.”
Rob Riggle, Dave Franco, Ice Cube, Brie Larson Johnny Simmons, Dakota Johnson, Jake M. Johnson and DeRay Davis also star in the film in which Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are making their live-action debut.
21 Jump Street, which features a cameo by Johnny Depp, hits theaters March 16th 2012, but we have another Hill update for you that is coming a lot sooner. He tweeted that he “heard there might be little surprise in front of Green Lantern next week…” With news that the first full-length trailer for Moneyball has been completed, I can only assume that is what he is referring to. Expect it in theaters this Friday and possibly online earlier.
Directed by Capote‘s Bennett Miller after Steven Soderbergh dropped last minute, Hill stars alongside Brad Pitt, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, Stephen Bishop, Kathyrn Morris, and Chris Pratt. The film, written by this year’s The Social Network Oscar-winner Aaron Sorkin, is based on Michael Lewis‘ nonfiction bestseller Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game and hits theaters on September 23, 2011 .
