To the surprise of no one, Disney’s big spring blockbuster John Carter has been announced for IMAX. THR reports that Pixar staple Andrew Stanton‘s first foray into live-action will be digitally re-mastered for IMAX 3D. Based of Edgar Rice Burroughs‘ work, the action adventure stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church, and Willem Dafoe. Paramount has just released a new photo from another film headed to IMAX (this one actually shot partially with the cameras a la The Dark Knight and its currently-shooting sequel). Also directed by a Pixar native making his live-action debut, Brad Bird, it is for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. The photo features Tom Cruise, but the blockbuster also stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Josh Holloway, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Lea Seydoux and Anil Kapoor.
