Bruce Willis will be in his most promising film in a long, long time. Deadline reports he is joining Brick and The Brothers Bloom writer/director Rian Johnson‘s upcoming sci-fi flick Looper. Although Johnson said they haven’t locked down a cast Deadline reports Joseph Gordon-Levitt is definitely on board. Willis will play the same character as Levitt, but in a different time frame.

Doesn’t make sense? Here is the short synopsis: “Loopers are hitmen whose victims are sent back in time from the future to be executed. The Loopers bump them off in the present, so there is no trace of a crime in the future.”

They also report that it isn’t shopping at the Cannes Film Festival, but “buyers are all over it.” Count me excited. I’ve loved everything Johnson has done and this could be his best yet. The premise sounds fantastic. Anyone that can help Willis take part in a good film earns kudos. His latest, Cop Out and Surrogates were nearly unwatchable.

Are you excited for Looper? What about Willis playing an older Gordon-Levitt?
