Still a few months away from it’s Christmas release, the interest in Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of Sherlock Holmes has already generated enough buzz to merit the early development of a sequel. According to Risky Business Blog, Warner Brothers has already enlisted Justice League: Mortal writers, Kieran and Michele Mulroney for the drafting of this potential sequel.
As for Brad Pitt potentially taking the role of Professor Moriarty, Warner Brothers has confirmed in an official statement that Pitt “is not joining the cast of Sherlock Holmes.” It seems that these rumors were founded on the wishful thinking of fans who were disappointed by the news of Holmes’ arch enemy being cut from the film. As Risky Business reports, the script only features Moriarty as an unrecognizable shadow. Nevertheless, with the rumors still spreading, it seems that only Sherlock Holmes can provide the answers… when it is released on December 25.
Is it too soon to want a Sherlock Holmes sequel?
