With Michael Fassbender locked into the lead role, we’re still waiting on confirmation from the rest of the cast for Ridley Scott‘s The Counselor. Scripted by Cormac McCarthy, Jeremy Renner and Javier Bardem are contending for the supporting role of Reiner in the drama, while Natalie Portman has entered very early talks for Fassbender’s fiancee Laura. Now Twitch lets us now another big name that has re-invested interest, this time for a smaller supporting role.
We got word of Brad Pitt‘s initial involvement back when he was considering the villain role of Reiner, but now it is reported that the actor has recently met with Scott to discuss another part, that of Westray. Appearing in just a few scenes, the mysterious figure advises Fassbender’s character on the drug trade and advises him of possible violence. There is also an awesome scene in the third act with the character, but that’s all I will say about that.
Pitt is also appearing in Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years a Slave with Fassbender, so I wouldn’t resist seeing these two again. This film, described as “No Country For Old Men on steroids” follows “a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down.” With shooting starting in just a bit, expect these roles to get locked down soon.
What do you think about Pitt possible joining the film in a smaller role?
