Taking a note from their V/H/S franchise, Magnet Releasing has now commissioned a sequel to ABCs of Death, which took the horror anthology concept to an extreme. Featuring 26 different shorts for each letter of the alphabet, the film was met with a mixed response (including our own), but now producers are aiming to go above and beyond with a murderers’ row of names being announced for the follow-up.
Revealed at Cannes, this sequel will feature a bevy of notable directors, including Rodney Asher (coming off his doc on The Shining, Room 237), as well as the talented animator Bill Plympton, The Last Circus‘ Alex De La Iglesias, Japanese helmer Sion Sono (Cold Fish), Vincenzo Natali (Splice, Cube), The Last Winter director Larry Fessenden and more.
While not everyone has been announced, Deadline also lets us know that Lancelot Imasuen, Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper (Vanishing Waves), Marcus Dunstan (The Collection), Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (Inside, Livid), E.L. Katz (Cheap Thrills), Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary), Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado (Rabies), Julian Gilbey (A Lonely Place To Die), Dennison Ramalho (Ninjas, Love For Mother Only), Jerome Sable (The Legend Of Beaver Dam), and Robert Morgan (Bobby Yeah) are all helming shorts.
Lastly, Filipino director Erik Matti is also among the bunch and we’ve got a look at his latest film which is set to premiere at Cannes. On the Job tells the true story of prisoners turned assassins by their own wardens and corrupted government. It looks fairly wild with a great style and one can see the trailer below as we await more updates on the 2014-bound ABCs of Death sequel.
