October 1st, 2010 sounded too good to be true. David Fincher‘s The Social Network, Matt Reeves‘ Let Me In and David Gordon Green‘s Your Highness were all set for wide releases. Now, Deadline reports Universal’s 2010/2011 line-up and Your Highness has been bumped to April 8th, 2011. No reason is cited for the delay, but this is Gordon Green’s biggest film yet with heavy special effects. While I loved Pineapple Express and can’t wait for this Highness never felt like a fall film to me. I think it will suit April nicely and it’s closer to 4/20 so the demographic can’t complain.
Another title that was begging for a release date shift was the Matt Damon and Emily Blunt-starring sci-fi romance The Adjustment Bureau. It was originally scheduled for the end of July, but it never screamed summer film to me. It will now be released September 17th, 2010 next to Ben Affleck’s The Town.
Ron Howard‘s romantic comedy Cheaters also got a release date of January 14th, 2011. This will open next to the recently delayed-for-3D The Green Hornet and The Cabin In The Woods, which was also delayed for a year for 3D post conversion. It sounds like studios aren’t scared of the usual January dumping ground anymore.
Are you upset at the delays? What film are you looking forward to most?
