X-Men Origins: Wolverine is currently set for a May 1, 2009 release date in the U.S., but a few people will be seeing it a bit early as a DVD quality workprint has leaked online. Spill.com is reporting that the cut of Wolverine floating around is likely an older cut, and not the one we will be seeing next month. It apparently contains unfinished CGI and doesn’t include Hood’s reshoots.
At first I thought this was an April Fools joke, man was I wrong. Who would have thought this would have happened, a whole month before the movie comes out. I have no idea how this will effect Wolverine’s box office, it might even not effect it at all, but this is definitely not good news. Taken leaked over 5 months before it’s US release date and that didn’t seem to affect ticket sales. My advice is do not watch this cut, no matter how bad you want to. It’s completely unfinished and for a summer blockbuster like this I would much rather check it out on the big screen.
What do you think of this news? Will it effect Wolverine’s box office?
