After delivering not only one of the finest films of the year, but a career highlight, with this summer’s Blue Jasmine, the hard-working Woody Allen went right into production on his latest feature. Starring Colin Firth, Emma Stone, Marcia Gay Harden, Jacki Weaver and more, the film is set to arrive in the summer of 2014 thanks to Sony Pictures Classics, who have just revealed the title, release date, and the first images.
Titled Magic in the Moonlight, details are sparse on the period drama, but we know it takes place in the south of France. Firth and Stone lead the project, which is a romantic comedy spanning over twenty years (most notably in the ’20s and ’30s). As we await more details, one can see Stone and Harden above, and Firth below, in the debut stills.
Also starring Eileen Atkins, Hamish Linklater, and Simon McBurney, Magic in the Moonlight opens on July 26th, 2014 (which, oddly, is a Saturday — check back for confirmation as we sort out if it’s a misprint).
