Before he debuts his next film, Magic in the Moonlight (one of our most-anticipated of the year), Woody Allen will step in front of the camera, but not under his own direction. Debuting at Toronto International Film Festival last fall was John Turturro‘s directorial effort Fading Gigolo, and with a release now set for the spring, we have a new trailer.
Marking the first time Allen has led a film that wasn’t his own in well over a decade, he plays as bookseller-turned-pimp to Turturro’s middle-aged neophyte hustler. The buzz was virtually non-existent after its premiere, but the trailer sells a fairly entertaining comedy, so hopefully an audience is found in the coming months. Check out the trailer below.
Fading Gigolo opens on April 18th.
