After the sweeping financial success of the low-budget horror flick, Paranormal Activity, came a wave of imitators that aimed to cash in on the found-footage craze. Some were fun; most were awful, but most made money. Well, Paramount is hoping you’re not tired of this sub-genre just yet, as they have just picked up The Devil Inside, an indie about exorcism.

According to THR, this low-budget horror flick, which was shot last year in Rome and Bucharest, “centers on a woman who has been led to believe her mother brutally murdered three people because she was clinically insane. After being told the murders occurred during an exorcism, she sets out to discover the truth. While documenting her experience with a film crew in Italy, she becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms.”

The feature’s producers and co-writers, William Brent Bell and Matthew Peterman, collaborated on 2006’s Stay Alive, a horror thriller I’ve admittedly never heard of. But Paramount’s not rattled by their newbie status. Hell, Paranormal Activity was Oren Peli’s first feature, and it banked more than $190 million worldwide. Why not be optimistic?

The question is, that while the exorcism and found footage subgenres have definitely been booming that passed few years, will audience still have an interest by the time this flick is released?
