/Film has some long awaited news. Dimension Films have finally announced that Scream 4 is going to be produced with a release date, April 12, 2011. Of course, franchise director Wes Craven will be returning to the directors chair. The story is being written by Kevin Williamson who wrote the first two along with a fifth. Original stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette are set to return keeping the ensemble feel of the others.
It’s good to see that a director is caring about a franchise they have started. However, is a fourth in a horror franchise really needed? ‘Scream’ did what it had to back in the ’90’s. Sure, having the same cast and crew is a good sign but that can only do so much.
