David Fincher‘s work The Social Network spent its second weekend atop the box office, earning an additional $15.5 million. It has earned a total of $46 million, just shy of its $50 million budget. It outperformed a trio of big named debuts on its way to the top spot as it became the smallest 2nd weekend drop of 2010.

Life As We Know It snuck by Secretariat as the top earning debut of the weekend. It took $14.6 million, ahead of the latter’s $12.6 million, which is a little surprising to me. I expected the horse racing biopic to take the top spot.

My Soul To Take neared flop status, earning only $6.9 million. In a limited release, only showing in 742 theaters, It’s Kind Of A Funny Story earned just over $2 million for Focus. Expect the small-budget film to earn substantial profit once it garners a wider release.

Next week sees the return of Johnny Knoxville et. al., as Jackass comes to you in 3D. It faces off against the action flick Red, starring Bruce Willis. Despite being in 500 fewer theaters, I expect Jackass 3D to have an impressive showing. Hopefully the boys will be in form.
