Tangled couldn’t quite sneak by Harry Potter‘s second weekend as estimates suggest it fell just over a million short. It earned $49.1 million in its opening weekend, compared to the $50.3 million of Harry Potter‘s second weekend. That has now grossed a staggering $220 million after the long Thanksgiving Weekend.
Megamind rounded out the top 3, earning $12.9 million in its 4th weekend. That animated flick has now grossed $130 million, covering its costs.
Burlesque out-dueled two other debuts to finish in 4th place with $11.8 million. Love and Other Drugs opened in 6th with $9.8 million while Faster stumbled in 7th with $8.7 million.
Next week serves as the calm before the Christmas clashes. Ninja western The Warrior’s Way opens in 1500 theaters, and should be tangling with Tangled‘s second weekend and Harry Potter‘s third weekend. Meanwhile, Oscar Favorite Black Swan opens in 19 theaters.
