Perhaps we should share our anticipation more often. After highlighting the 2013 films we can’t wait to see, Alfonso Cuaron‘s sci-fi epic Gravity landed squarely at the top and now, just a few hours later, Warner Bros. have finally given the George Clooney and Sandra Bullock-led film a release date.
Although it’s a long ten months away, the studio has gone with an October 4th, 2013 release (in a window we actually predicted a few months ago). On that date it will face off against the Vince Vaughn comedy The Delivery Man, the thriller Paranoia, Robert Rodriguez, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and lastly, a 3D re-release of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
The timeframe marks the same month that WB released their major gamble Cloud Atlas last year, and considering the supposedly challenging nature of this one, it makes sense. Released in IMAX and in 3D, check out the official synopsis below as we endure the long wait for the film that we expect to show up at the fall festivals beforehand.
Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
Do you think this is a prime release date for the film?
