When it comes to selling one of a studio’s summer titles, a 20-minute chat between four talented friends has some unquestionable benefits when put up against yet another poster or featurette. Be thankful, then, for the following: a 20-minute interview, concerning The World’s End, that features Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost, as overseen by Peter Jackson. Taking a break from strenuous post-production on his last two Hobbit movies, the director sat down with former collaborators — along with producing Tintin, he’s no stranger to the Cornetto trilogy — to help promote their latest title.
Not simply by singing its praises, though. It’s an intimate, revealing discussion that stretches from the project’s very beginnings to a detail of their months-long shoot, the specifics of which you’ll appreciate even more greatly after seeing this film for yourself. Speaking of, there are three rather fine new clips — none of which “spoil” anything in The World’s End, but still display moments that, judging by your standards, may be best-saved for the full experience. As this writer will soon get into — i.e., once a review is posted Saturday evening — it’s not a movie which suffers from a lack of Wright‘s trademark visual gags. The way these play in-context is only better.

The World’s End will open in the U.K. on July 19, followed by a U.S. opening on August 23.
What did you take away from this sit-down? Were these first peeks up to snuff?
