Despite what seems to be a mountain of teasers and trailers, Disney/Pixar have remained coy on the meat of their fantasy tale Brave. Today we finally get a peek inside the story with a new featurette for Mark Andrews film. Featuring Princess Merida, Kelly MacDonald narrates the piece with her wonderful accent as we learn she plays a character struggling for independence all while unlocking a secret curse. Check it out below via Yahoo for the film also starring Emma Thompson, Julie Walters and Craig Ferguson. Other sites were also recently privy to the first 30 minutes of the film and you can check out their thoughts at /Film, Cinema Blend and i09.
Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).
Brave hits theaters June 22nd, 2012.
