I was surprised to find a Hollywood Reporter item about Martin Scorsese‘s 1990 documentary Made in Milan, what with the thing having been online for many years. “Ah, a restoration,” I thought to myself, which was technically correct — though what’s being hosted there is as much a reduction, the piece cut from nearly 30 minutes to ten, and with not much of an improvement in image quality at that.
The Made-to-Measure WME | IMG network have acquired Made in Milan, and they speak of it in high terms: “Made in Milan predates the current landscape of fashion films which is why M2M felt so compelled to display this seminal piece of work.” I can leave it up to you to decide why, maybe, that statement’s a bit ironic, and let the piece — a searching item that values in-the-moment incident as much as obviously (unapologetically) staged scenarios — speak for itself, separate from anything else. And before it gets taken down.
