With the feature film videogame adaptation world in shambles and not much hope on the horizon (yes, even the upcoming Michael Fassbender-led Assassin’s Creed doesn’t have our attention yet), for the most part, the world of gaming and Hollywood is better off staying separated. Back in 2007, however, an animation studio tried to convince Nintendo to make a feature film of one of their most beloved franchises and now the results are available to view.
Imagi Studios, best known for TMNT and Astro Boy, developed a brief pitch reel for a Legend of Zelda feature animation and their former DP and layout supervisor Adam Holmes has recently put it up online. As history tells us, Nintendo decided not to move forward with the project, but we can get a preview of the style, as we see Link come in to save the princess, as he does best. Check it out below (with a hat tip to /Film) and if you wish the concept wasn’t rejected by Nintendo, let us know in the comments.
