By the time his monsters vs. robots epic Pacific Rim hits theaters, it will be around half-a-decade between Guillermo del Toro-directed projects, but that’s not all the inventive helmer has in store for 2013. After getting a positive response out of BNAT (then again, what doesn’t?), the Jessica Chastain-led, del Toro-produced horror film Mama arrives in January and following two trailers, one can now see the original short the project is based on.
Introduced by its producer, del Toro discusses how it was Andy Muschietti’s short film that caught his eye and led to him getting the gig to expand this story. For those fearing spoilers, perhaps one will want to wait to see the full thing, but you can check it out below for the film also starring Game of Thrones‘ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Megan Charpentier and Isabelle Nellsse. We’ve also got a new still below from the aforementioned Pacific Rim, thanks to Lebanese Movie Guide, featuring stars Idris Elba and Rinko Kikuchi.
Mama arrives on January 18th, while Pacific Rim hits on July 12th.
