It seems as though Gaspar Noe is using his break from feature filmmaking to dive deep into the music video work. After helming a video for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, he has returned with another singular vision for the music video of Animal Collective‘s Appleasauce, from their recent album Centipede Hz.
Featuring a mysterious figure (Lindsey Wixson) devouring a fruit, one can glimpse portions of the 1968 flicker film N:O:T:H:I:N:G, from renowned experimental avant-garde filmmaker Paul Sharits, in the background. According to the group, this one is intended to be viewed in complete darkness, so turn the lights down, get those headphones out and watch below, along with more of Sharits’ film following.
