“Gone Girl is this panoramic, phantasmagorical, acid trip of a movie that keeps shifting gears for an amazing cinematic ride,” New York Film Festival director Kent Jones recently said ahead of the opening night bow of David Fincher‘s latest drama. While the trailers thus far have yet to sell the exact “acid trip” aspect of the project, they’re enticing enough, and the latest has landed.
Premiering during last night’s Emmys, a one-minute spot has dropped revealing new footage (including a look at Scoot McNairy) and new music (once again from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross). While we’re excited on it based on those involved, one person part of the ensemble certainly isn’t.
“I probably would have walked away from it,” actor Tyler Perry told Yahoo. “If I had known who David Fincher was, and his body of work, or if I’d known the book was so popular, I would have said, ‘No.’ And my agent knew that! He didn’t tell me until after I signed on!” Perhaps a few viewings of Fincher’s filmography will get Perry inspired, but in the meantime, check out the extended trailer below.
Gone Girl opens on October 3rd.
