Cannes has begun for a lucky few; for the rest of us, these highly anticipated titles might feel as far off as ever, especially when (occasionally) ecstatic reactions only stoke the flames of anticipation. If you really can’t resist, consider this new slate of clips, made available by the festival, from Pedro Almodóvar‘s Julieta, Maren Ade‘s Toni Erdmann, Cristi Puiu‘s Sieranevada, Kleber Mendonça Filho‘s Aquarius, Ken Loach‘s I, Daniel Blake, and Alejandro Jodorowsky‘s Endless Poetry.
Four of the titles made their way onto our recently posted most-anticipated countdown, and the extracts, while brief, make our reasons a bit clearer: alternately beautiful and chaotic, it’s a promise of what’s coming this year and beyond. With any luck, they’re more than potential indicators of what’s to come.
