With The Wolf of Wall Street just about in the can — if not outright complete; the first screening is in four days, mind — and its release a little more than one month away, the first clip has come online. This makes for a wise release: landing in that sweet zone of promotional excerpts, being neither too revealing nor entirely banal, it’s essentially an expansion of that trailer–friendly line concerning money that’s been attached to certain parts of a woman’s body.
Before that, for some fifty seconds, we get a bit of nice back-and-forth between Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Jon Bernthal, and Margot Robbie — all perfectly enjoyable screen presences (even the lattermost, predominantly silent, does a great bit of acting with her eyes) who are given some crackling dialogue (courtesy of Terence Winter), but hardy anything that’s going to change the outlook of anyone. Let’s, still, hope this acts as a sign of what’s to come.

The Wolf of Wall Street will open on December 25.
