After getting into heavy dramatic territory with a real-life story of survival in 127 Hours, Oscar-winner Danny Boyle will be taking a 180-degree turn for his next project, the twisty heist film Trance. Set for a preview at South by Southwest Film Festival this weekend, Fox Searchlight has debuted our first clip from the film, running a hefty two minutes.
Featuring James McAvoy breaking the fourth wall, we see his crew steal a painting at fine art auction, a heist that seems to go off without a hitch. While I was a fan of Boyle’s James Franco-starrer, I have to admit it’s fun to see him back in more playful territory with something that matches his style. Check it out below, along with a trio of character posters featuring McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson.
Trance arrives on April 5th.
