“The film Black Orpheus is one of my favorite films of all time, which is set in Carnival in Brazil. The Orpheus myth is the original love triangle, Romeo-and-Juliet kind of story,” Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler recently told Rolling Stone. His love for the film was evident in the band’s recent unveiling of their latest lyric video, but now they’ve pulled out all the stops when it comes to a full stream of their upcoming album, Reflektor.
As seen below, Marcel Camus‘ Palme d’Or-winner, the 1959 classic Black Orpheus is the backdrop for the video, which includes the entire two-part album. While there’s about 20 minutes edited out to account for the album’s runtime, we’ve also included Hulu Plus and YouTube versions (or pick it up on The Criterion Collection), if you want to revisit the actual film with, you know, the dialogue. But for those that can’t wait to hear the Montreal-based band’s latest album, check it out below, along with runtimes to match up the tracks.
