Vera Farmiga is in talks and Michelle Monaghan is set to star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in Duncan Jones‘ next film, Source Code, which is being financed by Vendome Pictures and the Mark Gordon Company to be distributed by Summit Entertainment. [THR].
Here are the respective roles the two actresses would/will be playing: “Farmiga will play a hands-on communications officer controlling Gyllenhaal as he travels through time and space. Monaghan is a woman on the train with whom the man is involved romantically.”
As previously written, the film “centers on a soldier (Gyllenhaal) who, as part of an experimental government program to investigate a terrorist incident, finds himself in the body of an unknown commuter living and reliving a harrowing train bombing until he can find out who is responsible for it.”
Certain words within the logline make one cautious, namely “terrorist,” “bombing” and “government.” Not that these words cannot provide high drama. But rather that they provide a generality to something that sounds rather creative at its core.
Both Farmiga and Monaghan are two of the bigger gifts Hollywood has gotten lately in terms of actresses, so their involvement next to Gyllenhaal and Jones is comforting.
What do you think of these additions? Are you excited for Jones’ sophomore effort?
