Coming off her Oscar-nominated animation Persepolis and this year’s excellent drama Chicken with Plums, we all thought the talented Marjane Satrapi‘s next film would be the wild-sounding Ryan Reynolds-led The Voices. But in a welcome surprise, the director has revealed a new film that went under the radar, and one very different than her previous efforts.
Premiering at the Rome Film Festival next month, we’ve got the first trailer for The Gang of the Jotas, which features the director on screen herself in the story of badminton players who get mixed up with the Spanish mafia. Like her other work, the trailer is quite playful, especially with the titles that pop up. Hopefully this one will arrive at a closer festival next year, but for now check out the trailer below thanks to UDI.tv (via The Playlist).
