One of the films I was upset I didn’t catch at Sundance Film Festival this year was Mike Cahill‘s Another Earth. I heard mostly positive things about the indie sci-fi romance. The trailer makes it seem like there is a lot more sci-fi in it than I’ve actually heard, but I love these low budget efforts wrapped in that genre, so I can’t wait to check it out. The film stars Brit Marling (who also had the hit Sound of My Voice there), William Mapother, Jordan Baker, Robin Lord Taylor, and Flint Beverage. Check it out below via Apple as well as the new poster.

Synopsis:

In ANOTHER EARTH, Rhoda Williams (Brit Marling), a bright young woman accepted into MIT’s astrophysics program, aspires to explore the cosmos. A brilliant composer, John Burroughs (William Mapother), has just reached the pinnacle of his profession and is about to have a second child. On the eve of the discovery of a duplicate Earth, tragedy strikes and the lives of these strangers become irrevocably intertwined.

Another Earth hits limited theaters on July 22nd, 2011.
