One of the best films of the year is Janus Metz Pedersen‘s Danish war documentary Armadillo. He mixes the style of an action film with the veracity and intimacy found in last year’s Restrepo. Our own James Battaglia gave it the highest honor possible in his TIFF review, which you can read here. Aside from the brilliant Meek’s Cutoff, it is our must-see film of April and now we have the domestic theatrical trailer. Check it out below via Apple.

Synopsis:

The first documentary ever chosen to compete in the International Critics’ Week at Cannes (where it won the grand prize), Janus Metz’s ARMADILLO follows a platoon of Danish soldiers on a six-month tour of Afghanistan in 2009. An intimate, visually stunning account of both the horror and growing cynicism of modern warfare, the film premiered at the top of the box office in Denmark, provoking a national debate over government policy and the rules of engagement.

Armadillo will get a limited release on April 15th, 2011.
