Coming off a new red-band trailer, 20th Century Fox is pulling out the stops for their hard-R summer action Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. To compete in an especially packed season, they’ve just released a new theatrical, green-band trailer for Timur Bekmambetov which uses the Gettysburg address to anchor the proceedings. Clearly going for an epic, serious tone, I’m still curious if the Tim Burton-produced period actioner will actually exceed beyond it’s inherent silliness to deliver a worthwhile story. While he likely won’t be close to Daniel Day-Lewis in Steven Spielberg‘s upcoming biopic, Benjamin Walker also looks like he could actually sell the role. Check it out below, including some poorly added echo voice effects at the very end, for the film hitting theaters in just under a month.
Synopsis:
The film explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold history that shaped our nation. As a young boy, Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) witnesses the shocking death of his mother, leading him on a path to an ongoing war – and ultimately to the presidency – he chronicles in a hidden diary. The journal reveals the incredible story of a clandestine warrior who never stopped fighting for the country he led and the people he loved.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, also starring Elizabeth Winstead, Alan Tudyk, Anthony Mackie, Rufus Sewell and Erin Wasson and Dominic Cooper, hits theaters June 22nd.
