If 2013 showed the power of Kickstarter in funding high-end independent features, 2014 will be the year that will reveal the results. With Zach Braff‘s next feature premiering at Sundance and Spike Lee‘s Da Sweet Blood of Jesus likely coming in the fall, in between we’ll have the Veronica Mars film. After raising $5,702,153 on the platform, it went into production last year and today brings the first theatrical trailer.
Returning to the title role for the first time since the series went off the air in 2007, Kristen Bell is back in action. The official synopsis from WB reads, “Years after walking away from her past as a teenage private eye, Veronica Mars gets pulled back to her hometown, an ex-boyfriend with baggage, and an unraveling murder mystery.” While I’ve never seen the show, I’m all for fans being able to bring back their beloved properties, so hopeful this signals a change. Check it out below.
Veronica Mars hits theaters on March 14th.
