The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Scott Kosar, writer of the very good The Machinist and the not so very good Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Amityville Horror remakes will be crafting the script for Vlad. This is the action epic centered around when Dracula was a genocidal prince and not a blood-sucking ladies man.
This puts it at odds with Alex Proyas‘ Dracula : Year Zero, which Sam Worthington was recently rumored to star in. I’d personally rather see Proyas‘ film as I think it could be visually interesting and fun; I just see this as being a cheesy wannabe epic. While The Machinist was very good, I think that was more due to Brad Anderson‘s expert direction than Kosar‘s script.
Which would you rather see, Vlad or Dracula : Year Zero?
