Kathryn Bigelow‘s The Hurt Locker picked up another trophy at the Producers Guild Awards edging out competitors such as Avatar, Inglourious Basterds, Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire and Up In The Air. The PGA award is a significant precursor to the Best Picture Oscar and, with this win, solidifies The Hurt Locker‘s front-runner status. The film needed a push after suffering losses at both the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards this past week despite steamrolling the critics awards all awards season.  Additional winners include Up in the animated category, Grey Gardens for TV movie, The Cove for documentary and Joss Whedon received the Vanguard Award. Also, as previously announced in November, Precious nabbed the Stanley Kramer Award commemorating films that shed light on provocative social issues in an accessible and elevating fashion
