Just yesterday, we reported that Demi Moore had joined the cast of Naomi Foner‘s Very Good Girls and now, we’re getting word that Boyd Holbrook will be joining the vet alongside Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen and Peter Sarsgaard. [THR]
The coming-of-age tale tells the story of “two lifelong best friends both determined to lose their virginity as a rite of passage into the adult world.” Their relationship is then tested when the pair fall in love with the same young artist, to be played by Holbrook. Moore is set to play the role of Olsen‘s mother.
Back in January, we reported that Like Crazy star Anton Yelchin would be playing the young artist role, but this news is providing us with some conflicting reports. There’s no official reason as to why Yelchin dropped out of the drama, but I’m sure it has to do with scheduling conflicts considering the young star has several projects in the works — the Star Trek sequel, The Winter Queen, The Smurfs 2, and Pete and Goat, just to name a few.
Holbrook has been getting some TV time recently, with his supporting role on The History Channel’s mini-series Hatfields & McCoys, which premieres this weekend. He will be seen next on the big screen in Andrew Niccol‘s The Host, which is based on the best selling book by Twilight‘s Stephenie Meyer out March 29th, 2013.
Shooting for Very Good Girls starts next month.
What are your thoughts on Holbrook joining the cast?
