You may not know the name, but you most likely recognize Rob Riggle. The comedian has been a staple in Adam McKay‘s films with Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Step Brothers, and The Other Guys. His widely known role is Officer Franklin in Todd Phillips‘ The Hangover and now Variety reports he has nabbed a large role in the 21 Jump Street remake.
He will join Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as the main villain. That duo will play “two undercover cops assigned to work in high schools and colleges.” Also in the cast is Ice Cube as the police chief and Brie Larson in the female lead role. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller make their live-action debut with the comedy described as “a John Hughes movie with Bad Boys style action.” It sounds like a remake that is actually useful and with the addition of Riggle, I can’t wait.
21 Jump St. begins production in May and will hit theaters March 2012.
